Sarah Duffey Barnes, age 82, of Carrollton, Georgia passed away on Tuesday morning, August 4, 2015 at Tanner Medical Center in Carrollton. She was born January 31, 1933 in Newnan, Georgia, the daughter of the late Curtis Duffey and the late Clyde Bennett Duffey. In her early years, she was a Bell South Operator and later a well-liked store clerk. Mrs. Barnes was a homemaker, wonderful cook and baker, loving wife of 60 years, and much adored mother and grandmother. Always full of fun and smiles, her family will forever be quoting her and trying to reproduce her holiday dishes. Survivors include her husband, Tommy Barnes of Carrollton, Georgia; daughter, Teresa Barnes Hollis of Sparta, Georgia; son, Buddy Barnes of Lawrenceville, Georgia; sister, Shirley Duffey Lassiter of Newnan; grandchildren: Sam Hollis, IV of Milledgeville, Georgia, Tom Hollis of Sparta, Georgia, Christopher & Hillary Koncul of Skidaway Island, Georgia, and Steven & Amanda Hunt of Sugar Hill, Georgia; great grandchild, Benjamin Hollis Koncul; and nieces & nephews: David & Terri Burch of St. Simons Island, Georgia, Bobby & Shelia Lassiter of Newnan, Georgia, Daniel & Jennifer Barnes of Carrollton, Georgia, and the late Christopher Lassiter of Atlanta, Georgia. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, August 6, 2015 at 3:00 PM from Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel with Rev. Jimmy Bryan officiating. Those serving as pallbearers will be Steven Hunt, Sam Hollis, Tom Hollis, Christopher Koncul, Bobby Lassiter, and Bennett Burch. Interment will follow in Carroll Memory Gardens. Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel has charge of the arrangements.
