Betty M. PAINTER, 68 of Cassville, died unexpectedly April 2, 2004, at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon. Born March 8, 1936, in Springfield Twp., Huntingdon County, she was the daughter of the late Newton Duffey and Susie (Hamilton) Duffey Valentine. She was united in marriage to Harold "Andy" W. Painter, Oct. 21, 1953, in Saltillo. She is survived by her husband; three daughters and one son: Glenda Shoop, wife of the late Sam Shoop, of Mapleton; Patty Van Eekelen, and her husband, Vincent, of Virginia Beach, Va.; Harold Painter Jr., and his wife, Melissa, of McConnellstown; and Melinda Bowley, and her husband, Jeffrey, of Alexandria; and six grandchildren; Christine Shoop, Brandee Van Eekelen, Christopher Van Eekelen, Dylan Kole Painter, Chad Bowley and Casey Marie Bowley. Three sisters survive: Viola Clugston of Gettysburg, Mary Sheeler of Port Royal and Lillian Horne of Mifflintown. She was preceded in death by a sister, Opal Naugle Vaughn; a brother, Raymond Duffey; and a half-sister Lecada Shields. Mrs. Painter was of the Protestant faith. She was primarily a homemaker and enjoyed gardening and crafting, and especially loved to spend time with her family. Funeral services will be held April 6, at the Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, Mount Union, with the Rev. Gordon Ross officiating. Interment will be made in Jordan Cemetery.
