Neal was the third of seven sons born to the late William Joseph and Zelia Mae Drumwright, on July 14, 1927 in Blytheville, AR. However, he spent practically all his childhood and young adult years in Ripley, TN. He married Georgia Marina Lee in 1948, shortly after returning home from serving in the Army during World War II.
Neal was self employed nearly his entire adult life, beginning as an independent route salesman for the Jewel Tea Company, then owning and operating four fabric stores in the San Diego area. Next, he had three bakery thrift stores in Memphis and finally, a Western Auto Franchise store in Jackson, TN.
Neal was a former Deacon and Sunday School Teacher at Dellwood Baptist Church, Memphis, TN, First Baptist Church, Ripley, TN and First Baptist Church, Bemis, TN. He was a member of The Gideons International for forty-five years. He was also active for several years in Pastoral Care at Jackson Madison County General Hospital, Meals on Wheels, Prison Ministry and the South Jackson Civitan Club.
Neal is survived by his wife, Georgia; their three daughters, Sheila Chipman and Mitzi Warren of Jackson, TN, and Marina Hardee of Memphis; nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. He is also survived by four of his brothers, Carlton of Ripley, Lynn of Dyersburg, Larry of Columbia and Billy Joe of Houston.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to The Gideons International, the First Baptist Church Bemis building fund or the Alzheimer's Association.
Family and friends will gather to remember the life of Neal from 5-8 p.m. Sunday, at First Baptist Church, Bemis, 116 Bemis Lane, Jackson TN 38301. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, at First Baptist Church, Bemis. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. at Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Ripley, TN.

There will be a 4-7 pm visitation on Sunday at 1st Baptist Church-Remis with a 10 am serivce there on Monday.
Burial will be 2 pm Monday at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Ripely, Tennessee.
