Harlan, born January 13, 1927, in San Diego, CA, passed away April 13, 1999 in Rancho Mirage, CA. The son of Marybelle Branch Driscoll, and Gerald Driscoll Jr., a local attorney, he was a 7th generation native-born Californian. During WWII, he joined the Army Air Corp, and the Marine Corp. He and Madeline Gills were married October 5, 1946. Shortly thereafter, he and brother Gerald started Driscoll Custom Boats on Shelter Island. He was a member of the San Diego Yacht Club for many years. In 19836, Harlan and Madeline moved to the desert in an effort to minimize the effects of his debilitating illness. During his 27 year illness, he was an active member of Scott Memorial Baptist Church in addition to his wife, Madeline he is survived by 2 daughters, Moyna Barnes-Voshell and Kathleen Roehl, brother, John Driscoll III, sister, Moyna Jackson, 6 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and 2 sons-in-law. As a devout Christian, loyal husband and very successful father and grandfather, he has left quite a legacy to his family and friends. A memorial service will be held at Scott Memorial Baptist Church, 2716 Madison Ave., San Diego at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 30, 1999 followed by an interment service at Fort Rosecrams National Cemetery promptly at 2:30 p.m.
