FUNERAL FOR MRS. LESTER
HELD AT BATESVILLE
Mrs. L. B. Lester, wife of a Batesville, Miss., merchant, died Saturday noon at her home in Batesville after a long illness.
She was the mother of W. H. D. Lester, who until his resignation a few months ago was one of J. Edgar Hoover's first lieutenants in the Federal Bureau of Investigation at Washington.
Funeral services were held at her home in Batesville, with Rev. Paul Watson of Clarksdale, Miss., Rev. W. D. Langtry of Sardis, Miss., and Rev. J. W. Lee of Batesville officiating. Burial was in the Batesville Cemetery.
Daughter of Dr. Walter Hugh Drane and Frances Spencer Drane, Mrs. Lester was born in Batesville and had spent her life there except for the time she was away studying at Potter College, Bowling Green, Ky., Chicago Conservatory of Music, at Chautauqua, N. Y., and in Europe.
For a number of years she was head of the music department of Batesville High School. She was a member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, Daughters of the American Revolution, Colonial Dames and Clan Gregor. She was a Presbyterian.
In addition to her husband and son, she leaves a brother, Walter H. Drane of Sherman, Texas.
