He married Elizabeth "Betty" Jean Jones June 12, 1942 and they have one son. Lee is an Army veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict, retiring as a major after twenty years of service. He then became a Methodist minister, and also attained a law degree. Lee became a church administrator, and later a hospital administrator. He was a Mason and member of the North Augusta Southern Methodist Church.
