Eventually in Olnes Alaska, ran saloon and restaurant, also prospected. Known as "Shorty Dorfner" in newspaper articles of that time and area.

World War 1 draft registration 1917, listed as short stature, mother in Tacoma (not his wife as some indexes incorrectly state) listed as contact.
