An Unteroffizier and Flugzeugführer [pilot] with 5 Staffel Jagdgeschwader 2. During a mission over England, his aircraft (Bf109E-4; wn: 4861) was shot down by a Spitfire piloted by Flying Officer Tadeusz Nowierski of 609 Squadron RAF. Although he managed to bale out the aircraft before it crashed at Sprakefield, Hundred Acres Farm, Sydling St Nicholas, Dorset, his parachute failed to open and he was killed. Recipient of the Iron Cross 2nd Class.
