Funeral services were conducted at 10:00 a. m. at Oliver Funeral Home in Winona and at 2:30 p.m. at the Slate Springs Baptist Church for Scott Doler, 68 years old, who died at his home near Winona December 28th, after several months' illness. Services were conducted by Rev. C. B. Hamlet, 3rd, Winona, Rev. J. B. Middleton of Sardis and Rev. Dorrough, Bellfontaine. Interment was in Vance cemetery with Oliver Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Doler was well known throughout Calhoun, Webster and Montgomery counties. He was one of Montgomery County's most progressive farmers, was active in religious, social and civic affairs in this community, taking a very active part in county and state elections. He was born November 29, 1876, in Calhoun County, Miss., and married Miss Pearl West December 7, 1899. He has been a resident of Montgomery County for the past 19 years, moving here from Calhoun County. He was a member of the Springhill Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Pearl Doler, Winona, four sons, H. J. Doler, Calhoun City, Jack Doler, Winona, Jasper Doler, Graysport, Pfc. Binford Doler, Paris, Texas; three daughters, Mrs. Myrtle Spencer, Earle, Ark., Mrs. Josie D. Inman, Winona, Mrs. Margaret Vance, Slate Springs; one sister, Mrs. Pearl West, Slate Springs; two brothers, J. J. Doler, Slate Springs, Dr. C. Doler, Clinton, Okla., and 17 grandchildren.
