Howard Dodge of Junction City, Oregon died April 11 of respiratory failure. He was 81.

Mr. Dodge was born Sept. 21, 1926, in Yoakum, Texas, to Chester and Mildred Dalley Dodge. He married Frieda Shumate on Oct. 11, 1952, in Junction City. He attended Texas public schools.

He was a survivor of the Pearl Harbor attack, and served in the Marine Corps in World War II in the South Pacific. He moved from Texas to Eugene in 1948, and later moved to Junction City. He was a mill worker for Georgia-Pacific for 35 years. He enjoyed woodworking and gardening.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Steve and Dale, both of Eugene; and one grandchild.

Burial, Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, Oregon.
