Sixty seven years ago God sent an angel to earth to be with us. On March 16, 2015 God took the angel back to be with him. Kathie was truly an angel.
A registered nurse who worked at Crouse Irving Memorial Hospital for over 35 years, five years in Pediatrics and the rest in the Neonatal Intensive Care unit.
Her passion was taking care of her three boys; sons, Aaron of LaFayette and Kent of E. Syracuse and her husband of 46 years, Laverne.
Since her retirement, she worked extensively in her flower gardens. She spent hours taking care of her horse “Joe” and the other horses, cats and dogs on the “farm”. She was a mainstay at her church, St. James in Skaneateles, where she was a member of the Altar Guild, Stephen Ministry and Bible Study. She was a volunteer teacher’s aide at Meache
m School. Kathie’s love of horses came from her mother, Doris and her father, Arthur Burghardt (deceased) who owned the Scenic Valley Riding Stables.
Her three sisters are Susan Lande (Bruce) deceased, Dottie Anderson and Jill George (Russell); a brother, John Burghardt; her second set of brothers and sisters are Ronald Doctor (Doreen), Reverend Ginny Doctor, Delores Doctor, Melvin Doctor (Deceased) Allan Doctor and Randy Doctor. She is also survived by an aunt and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 23, 2015 at St. James Church, Skaneateles at 10:30 AM.
