Peggy Elaine Carter was born on March 26, 1949 to the late Reverend James and Lillian Dobson. She passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday, August 2, 2016. At an early age she professed a hope in Christ at Rutland Baptist Church in Mt. Juliet, Tennessee.

Peggy received her education in the Wilson County School System. She obtained her Bachelor’s degree from Tennessee State University and her Master’s degree from Trevecca Nazarene University. Peggy dedicated over 25 years of teaching and tutoring children within the Wilson County School System. She also owned a daycare for many years, was also a seamstress and cook.

After retirement, Peggy began assisting her mother with catering services. As her mother’s health failed she continued with the help of other family members providing catering within the community.

She was the only girl out of nine children. She was a dedicated member of Rutland Baptist Church where she taught children’s church, Sunday School and sang in the choir. Peggy was also a member of the community singing group, Spiritual Ensemble.

In 1987, Peggy received a special gift of life from her brother Myron Dobson, a kidney. She celebrated this gift for 30 years.

On March 26, 1970, Peggy was joined in holy matrimony to Warren Carter and three children were born to this union. She was an outstanding wife, mother, and grandmother.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Warren Lee Carter; son, Dionne Carter; brothers, Maurice and James “Booke” Dobson.

She leaves to cherish her memories two loving and devoted children, Kenya Moolenaar and Jamar Carter; one devoted granddaughter, Asia Moolenaar; six brothers, Nathaniel, Michael (Pam), Gary, Myron, Tyrone (Sharon) and Pastor Anthony (Mary) Dobson; four sisters-in-law; Jackie Dobson, Bernice Dobson, LaUna Ewin and Anita (Mose) Payne; two brothers-in-law, Curtis (Norma) and Marcus Carter; aunts, Audrey (Johnny) Saddler and Esther Mae Hockett; uncles, Major Jackson and Eddie Jenkins; great aunt, Barbara Woods; great uncle, Jimmy Lee Dobson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
