SPRINGHILL, LA - Funeral services for Mrs. Erline Dobbins Cheatham Thompson, 76, will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, July 8, 1999 at the Bailey Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Darrell Willis and Rev. Robert Andrews officiating. Burial will be in the Springhill Cemetery.
Mrs. Thompson, a native of Crossroad (Claiborne Parish) and a resident of Springhill, LA for 51 years, passed away Tuesday, July 6th in Shreveport, LA after a short battle with cancer. She was a very caring and giving person, and was a member of the Southern Methodist Church. She was a Retired School Teacher, Guidance Counselor and Student Evaluator in the Webster Parish School System for 40 years. She was a graduate of Louisiana Tech and had received her Masters degree from LSU, with further education at Northwestern State University, University of Arkansas, University of Mississippi, and Northeast University. She was a member of CRTA and LRTA. She was a former employee at Walmart in Springhill.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Commedo D. Cheatham; her parents, Morphis and Vera Carter Dobbins; step-mother, Aline Pate Dobbins; brother, Drew Dobbins.
She is survived by her husband with whom she had celebrated their 19th Wedding Anniversary on April 19, 1999, Don Thompson; brothers, Dr. Henderson Dobbins and his wife, Joyce, Grover Dobbins and his wife, Janie, all of Baton Rouge, LA; a sister, Chloie Dobbins of Shreveport; two nieces; five nephews; sister-in-law, Juanita Dobbins Frye; six great-nieces; and five great-nephews; a host of friends and other loved ones; special friends, Faye Miers, Linda Thigpen, R.E. Barton, Ann Malone, and Ann Wayland. Pallbearers will be Barry Dobbins, Terry Dobbins, Barton Bennett, Max Cheatham, Rodney Tompkins, and Chad Allman.
Honorary pallbearers will be Richard Noles, D.C. Wimberly, Earl Miers, Dr. Lisso Simmons, Dr. William Kama, Dr. Wayne Sessions, Robbie Bazemore, Sam Cheatham, and Gene Malone.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Southern Methodist Church, P.O. Box 12, Springhill, LA 71075.
