Jo Anne Louise (Dobbins) Baker passed away on February 7 2012 after a long illness. Jo Anne was born on October 26, 1937 in Joplin to Jonathan J. Dobbins and Rose Mae (Larimer) Dobbins. Jo Anne was a lifelong Joplin resident.

After graduating from Joplin High School in 1955, she started work as a secretary for a local lawyer. During the 1960's, Jo Anne worked as a secretary at Joplin Supply Company where she met the love of her life, Sherman "Boots" Baker. Jo Anne and Boots were married on June 17, 1967 in Joplin. Jo Anne was a secretary for Central Assembly of God/Central Christian Center for manyy years. She and Boots were active members of Central Christian Center all their married life. She attended Forest Park Baptist Church with her niece the last few years of her life. Jo Anne had a passion for genealogy and completed extensive research on the Dobbins family.

Jo Anne was preceded in death by her husband Boots Baker on May 14, 2010, her younger sister Sharon Zumwalt in 1998 and her parents John Dobbins in 1981 and Rose Dobbins in 2006.

Jo Anne is survived by two brothers, Paul and wife June of Carthage, and John D. and wife Barbara of Joplin. and a special niece Cindee and husband Paul Mulik of Joplin. She is also survived by nieces Connie Dobbins and Debbie and husband Wayne Plummer, nephews, Jim and wife Tammy Zumwalt, Don and wife Brandi Dobbins, John and wife MelaineDobbins, and Mike and wife Cathy Dobbins, brother in law Bill and wife Lynne Zumwalt, several grand nieces and grand nephews, cousins, and friends.

She will be missed by the residents and staff at Foxbury Terrance Assisted Living where she received excellent care during the last 19 months of her life.

Funeral services will be held 12 noon on Saturday at Parker Chapel with Rev. Doug Wilkerson and Paul Bayless officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery with Paul Mulik, Jim Zumwalt, Don Dobbins, Chuck Kelley, John Dobbins, and Mike Dobbins serving as palllbearers. The family will receive friends from 7-8p.m. on Friday at Parker Mortuary.
