Clara Dixon Alston, 75, of Coatesville, passed away on Thursday, in the Paoli Memorial Hospital.
She was the wife of the late Rodgers Alston Sr.
Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Harvey I. and Gladys H. Jackson Dixon.
She was a graduate of S. Horace Scott High School in Coatesville.
She was employed as a nurse's assistant and Unit Clerk for Brandywine Hospital and also as a teacher's aide for the Coatesville Area School District.
She was a member of the Jubliee Christian Center in Coatesville, where she was the church mother, bible study teacher, and a leader of the prayer band, until her illness prevented her from attending.
She enjoyed reading and studying the bible, along with bowling, volleyball and having many family activities. Her motto was "family first."
She is survived by two sons, Rodgers Alston Jr. and Roderick Alston and his wife Lisa, all of Coatesville; one daughter, Sharlene Fullwood and her husband, Pastor Frank Fullwood of Coatesville; five brothers, Elwood Dixon and his wife Mildred of Coatesville, Adam Dixon and Kim Dixon, both of Virginia, Christopher Dixon of Texas and Tyrone Dixon of New York; three sisters: Linda Dixon of Virginia, Delores Dixon and Shirley Archibald, both of New York; six grandchildren, one great-grandchild; sister-in-laws, Delia Dobie, Agnes Austin, Alberta Alston and Doris Dixon; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was predeceased by her brothers, Harold and Harvey Dixon.
