Her father was Edward John Kitt and her mother, Dinah (Brenchley) Kitt. They left England and came to the state of Nevada in 1872. 1880 they were living at Middle, Grant County, Oregon and had moved there within the year. 1881 they were living in Dayton, Columbia County, Washington Territory. They spent a few months in Walla Walla County, Washington Territory.
The family then moved to Lincoln County, Washington Territory in 1883 and lived the rest of their life in this area. 1900 they were enumerated at Yarwood, Lincoln County, WA
From her obituary in the Harrington Citizens Newspaper: "Emily's first schooling was received in a private home with the lady of the house as teacher. School terms were of three months duration, in the spring of the year. Later, the Kitt children either rode or walked six miles to school. Still later, a school house was moved into the Duck Lake area, which was four miles from the Kitts.
She married Curtis F. Dixon 1 December 1897 Lincoln County, WA. He was born December 1864 in Oregon. He died March 1920 and is buried on the coast near relatives.
They farmed in the Lamona area and built a home there in 1902.
She was a member of the Harrington Evangelist Episcopal Church, and the Harrington Magnolia Rebekah lodge No 123.
The Monday prior to her death she had been Easter shopping with her daughter, Maude Cox, and was enjoying the day out. That afternoon she had a heart attack and was taken to Spokane Deaconess Hospital. She had repeated attacks, the last one coming Saturday morning.
