Our community was greatly shocked; and saddened to learn of the sudden death of Mrs. Rose Davey which occurred Saturday morning, June 13, at her home in this village.
Deceased was, formerly Rose Dignan and was born in 1832 at Montreal, coming to this place two years later, and has since resided here.
She was married to Michael McGinnis, of this town, in the early 50's, he dying a few years later leaving one son, Michael. October 8. 1862, she was married to William Davey of this place, whose death occurred in 1882.
By her many little acts of kind thoughtfulness she has lessened, the sorrow of others. She leaves five children, Michael McGinnis, of this place, Mrs. John Chisholm of Cambridge, Mass., W, F. Davey, of Saranac Inn, Mrs. W. E. Garvey, of Massena, and John E. Davey, of this place. She is also survived by two brothers, Henry and Frank Dignan, of Michigan, and one sister, Mrs. Catherine Cook, of Cambridge, Mass.
The funeral was held at the R. V. church, Monday. Her pastor, Rev. Father Stevens, being absent, Father Byrne, of Waddiugton, officiated, delivering a very instructive and. comforting sermon
Mr. and Mrs. F.R. Guay, of Massena, had charge of the choir. Her great fondness for flowers was always noticeable and the floral tributes were beautiful, showing the high esteem la which she was held in the community. She was carried to her last resting place by her; four nephews, Henry and Frank Hodge, Timothy McClusky and Frank Davey.
