HARMON - Aletha Jean Dietz, 87, of 247 Dietz Road, Harmon, died Thursday, Sept. 1, 2011, at Dixon Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.
Jean was born Sept. 26, 1923, in Amboy, the daughter of Arthur E. and Myrtle Maves (McCoy) Blocher. She was united in marriage to Harold C. Dietz on June 2, 1944, in Maquoketa, Iowa.
Jean was a member of United Methodist Church, Harmon, United Methodist Women and Swinging Stars.
She enjoyed sewing, reading and cooking. Jean was a great supporter of the Walnut Blue Raiders.
She is survived by her husband, Harold "Mick" Dietz of Harmon; five sons, Mike (Sally) Dietz of Braselton, Ga., John A. Dietz of Indian Springs, Nev., Joe (Carol) Dietz of Walnut, Jimmy (Anita) Dietz of Helotes, Texas, and Dave (Susan) Dietz of Walnut; three daughters, Wilma (Charles) Paris of Atlanta, Mary (Tom) Parrott of Fruitland, Iowa, and Diane (Dave) Schoenholz of Oregon; and 30 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her twin brother, Dean, at birth.
Visitation will be from 9 to 10:30 a.m., followed by the funeral at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday at Walnut Community Bible Church with Roger Carlson, pastor of Berean Baptist Church, Rock Falls, and chaplain at Passages Hospice, officiating.
Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Harmon.
Arrangements were completed by Garland Funeral Home, Walnut.
A memorial has been established.
