Josephine A. Dietz, 87, of La Crosse died Friday, Dec. 16, 2005, at Bethany-St. Joseph Care Center. She was born Nov. 6, 1918, in Chicago to Adrian and Anna Doolin. She married Eugene Dietz in Chicago. They moved to Windsor, Ill., where they farmed for several years before returning to Chicago.

Josephine then taught physical education in the public school system. She is survived by one son, Patrick Dietz; a daughter-in-law, Julie Dietz of La Crosse; four grandchildren, Kimberly, Stephanie, Abigail and Matthew; one sister, Dorothy Shelton of Sanibel, Fla.; and one brother, John Doolin of La Crosse.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene; a son, Robert Dietz; two brothers, Art Ryman and Jim Doolin; and two sisters, Betty Ryman and Marion Shram.
