MRS. GEORGE DIEBOLD SR. PASSES AWAY AT 70 YEARS OF AGE: The sad news of the death of Mrs. George Diebold Sr., who was also one of the pioneers of this county, was learned by her many friends in this city shortly after her death at noon, Monday, April 10. She had been failing for some time with diabetes and her death was not so much of a shock to her relatives and friends. Mrs. Diebold was born in Canada, coming to this conty with her husband in 1883 and haas lived here since that time. They were among the pioneer settlers in this county and part of the state, building for themselves a home in Horton tonwship where they lived until a few years ago when they moved to this city. To this union were born nine children, four boys and five girls. They are Anthony Diebold, deceased; Mrs. Frank Mahoney of Pinconning; Mrs. Herman Hadrick of Marquette; Mrs. Wm. King, Marquette; Mrs. James Mahoney of Pine River; Mrs. W.J. Chilton, Chicago; Val Diebold of Alaska; John and George J. of this county. She also leaves one brother, D. A. Diemert of Cleveland, Ohio. Mrs. Diebold was always held in the highest esteem by her many friends. Her sweet face made sunshine in a shady place. If strangers felt the charm of her rare courteousy and joyous, sunny temperament, how much more so the members of her own household upon whom she lavished all the sweet earnestness and careful culture of her mind and nature. Strong and potent was the influence of the loving heart which gave of its gifts so generously. The spirit of her love was not weakness but strength. Gently, almost unconsciously, it coerced those coming in contact with it, to strive for if not to attain the realization of her high ideal. The funeral services were at 9 A.M. Thursday from the St. Joseph Catholic church of which she had been a member all her life. The Rev. Father Hasenberg officiated at the funeral service.
