Mahoning Dispatch, Fri, 29 Mar 1918
"CANFIELD SOLDIER BOY EARNS CLASS HONORS – James Powers Dickson"
"Son of Mr. and Mrs. W.J. Dickson of Canfield, who enlisted in the navy last October and was sent to the Great Lakes training camp, has for the past two months been a student in Harvard University, Cambridge, Mass., receiving special instruction and will be there two months longer. He will then go to Miami, Fla., for six mounts further training. In a recent examination in theory at Harvard there was a class of 250; only 50 passed and Powers ranked second, a showing that naturally makes his parents and host of friends very proud of him. He is a young man, only 18, who will be heard from in the fight his country is making for democracy."
