Obituary:

The vivacious Archylou Kinchen Dickie,83, died Saturday in Dallas, where she had lived since 1994. Her memorial service is set for 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at the Melton-Kitchens Funeral Home Chapel of Memories in Breckenridge with Charles Kuhn officiating. A private burial will be held earlier on Wednesday in Woodson.

World traveler, world-class shopper, green thumb, business woman, dancer, model, hostess extraordinaire and Buckaroo Queen 1946, Archy was born to Arch and Gladys Kirk Kinchen in Breckenridge on October 12, 1927. She graduated from Breckenridge High School, and attended the University of Texas, participated in a dance troupe that entertained WWII Soliders, modeled furs in New York City, and they returned home to marry George Dickie, Jr. on April 16, 1949. They made their home in Woodson and welcomed a son, Christopher Mark, on May 16, 1953. George and Chris preceded her in death.

Archy learned to be a working mom from her own mother, who, following the loss of her husband, built an insurance business. For many years, Archy and her mother lived with her grandparents, providing Archy with a wonderful connection to a generation of Breckenridge family. Archy joined her mother in the business, and they traveled the world attending insurance meetings, shopping their way across several states countries and continents.

Archy was always ready for the next social event, whether it be entertaining bird hunters in her home or friends at her home on Hubbard Creek Lake, or attending a Company L or Texas A&M class of 1946 reunion, or a charity function on Dallas. She was a long time member of the Breckenridge Woman's Forum, as well as a member of the Dallas Theatre Center Guild, Women's Council of the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Gardens, the Dallas Symphony, Les Femmes Dumonde, Dallas Opera, and TACA.

Archy contributed to a number of charities, but her staunchest support was for the George Dickie Jr. Scholarship fund benefitting students from Stephens, Shackelford, and Throckmorton Counties. Her recent personal donation, made two days prior to her death during Aggie Muster in Breckenridge will ensure the viability of the fund for future Aggies. For those wishing to remember Archy please consider contributing to the scholarship fund c/o, Kevin Simmons, First National Bank, 101 E. Walker Street, Breckenridge, TX 76424.

Archy is survived by one sister-in-law, Lynn Dickie Edwards of Irving, two nieces and Abbie Edwards Litner of Duncanville and Nancy Geiger Huslage of Raleigh, North Carolina; and two nephews Mike Edwards of Woodson and Dickie Gray of Breckenridge. She also leaves first cousins, Roxanna Dolph of Fort Worth and Bob Harmonson of Odessa, along with numerous other cousins and, many friends
