Ester Dickerson Drake
Learn about sponsoring this memorial...
Birth: Apr. 2, 1757
Death: Oct. 3, 1819

Ester was the daughter of Capt. Peter Dickerson (1724-1780) and Ruth Coe (1758-1793).

Ester was the second wife of my great-great-great-great-granduncle Col. Jacob Drake (1732-1823), son of Abraham Drake and Elizabeth Lindsley. His first wife Charity died in 1776 at 32 years old.

Ester and John were married on December 13, 1781.

Jacob and Ester raised eight children: Rachel (daughter of Charity), Hancock, Jacob, Clarissa, New Jersey Supreme Court Judge George, Silas, Peter, and Eliza.

Ester had two nephews who became governors of New Jersey: Mahlon Dickerson (1770-1853), and Philemon Dickerson (1788-1862).

Ester's name is listed in the transcribed records from Succasunna Presbyterian Churchyard as being buried here. Find-A-Grave contributor Gayle Ann Livecchia informs me that this stone is inscribed with "Ester, wife of Col. Jacob Drake. Died October 13, 1819. Aged 62 Years, 6 Months, 11 Days".

My 4th Great Grandmother; resting in peace. I've researched your families over several decades for genealogy. I'm sure you have many stories to tell, and I hope to meet you in the resurrection.
