JANET DICE ANDERSON peacefully passed away in her Houston home Wednesday, March 6, 2002 after a lengthy and courageous struggle with cancer. Her final months were enriched by the loving care and comfort offered by her family, neighbors and many friends who generously and untiringly provided daily support. Janet was born in Somerset, Pennsylvania, September 2, 1939, and moved to Corpus Christi late in World War II where her deceased father, Henry K. Dice, had been commissioned to build a chemical plant. She attended grammar and junior high school in Corpus and then transferred to Grier Academy in Tyrone, PA for completion of her education. In addition to being a loving and caring mother to her two sons, she was employed for nearly thirty years in the property management industry in Houston and Austin. Concurrently, she was very actively involved with her sons and grandchildren's school, social and recreational activities. Janet was particularly devoted to her grandchildren, never missed a school or Scouting event, and "kidnapped them" at every opportunity to spend the weekend or travel with her and her husband. Janet is survived by her loving husband of seventeen years, L. E. (Lew) Anderson, Jr.; sons Tommy and Troy Maierhofer and families; her beloved mother Janet Womer Dice; her brother Henry Kimmel (Kim) Dice, Jr. and family, all of Houston; stepdaughter Donna Anderson McDonnel and family of Kiev, Ukraine; stepson Darrell Wayne Anderson of Port O'Connor, Texas, and nine grandchildren. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 7:00p.m. until 9:00p.m on Thursday, March 7,2002. at Brookside Funeral Home Cypress Creek, 9149 Hwy 6 North, Houston. Funeral services will be held at 2:00p.m on Friday, March 8,2002 in the Founder's Chapel of Grace Presbyterian Church, 10221 Ella Lee, (near Westheimer and West Belt), Houston, with interment to immediately follow at Memorial Oaks Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations are suggested to the Sam Houston Area council, Boy Scouts of America.
