RICHMOND, Ind. – Doris Elizabeth Barnes, age 98, of Richmond, died Saturday, September 12, 2015, at Arbor Trace Exceptional Senior Living. Born January 2, 1917, in Connersville, Indiana, to William “Bill” and Minnie May Sherwood Dice, Doris lived most of her life between Preble County, Ohio and Richmond. She had worked for Atlas Underwear Company, Coca-Cola Bottling Company, and Hutton Casket Company. Doris was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Survivors include her daughter, Patricia A. Myers of Richmond; grandson, Anthony “Tony” L. (Karin Kane) Bailey of Chicago, Illinois; great-grandson, Alexander James Bailey; great-granddaughter, Eleanor Kathleen Bailey; half-sister, Bessie ”Peg” Burke of Gas City, Indiana; half-brother, Robert Dice of Marion, Indiana; nieces; nephews; and many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Martin Barnes who died on March 3, 1988; parents; sisters, Goldie Gillespie and Flossie Granger; brothers, Russell Dice and Wayne Dice; half-sisters, Katherine Trusty and Irene Johnson; and half-brothers, Jack Dice, John Dice, and George Dice. Visitation for Doris Elizabeth Barnes will be from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 17, 2015, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 17, 2015, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home with Pastor Curt Nies officiating. Burial will be in Spring Lawn Cemetery.
