Born at Jordan Hospital in Plymouth Andrew was a student at Upper Cape Cod Regional Technical School where he was a member of the National Honor Society.
Andrew worked for Atlantic Home Medical Supply. He was a member of the Boy Scouts of America Pack 49 & Troop 44.
As a friendly, happy, healthy 17-year-old boy, Andrew's life was full of adventure. Andrew touched many lives and made everyone feel special. He will be missed by all.
Andrew felt as comfortable in the water as he did on land. The love of water led Andrew to a typical Cape Cod boy's life. Swimming, boating, fishing, surfing, clamming or going to the beach — summertime would find Andrew with a buzzed haircut and a deep tan.
The curiosity of a 17-year-old boy also found Andrew cheering for the Celtics, playing music, working on cars, collecting watches, and searching local restaurants for the best scallops wrapped in bacon that he could find.
Andrew was a great worker. "What can I do next?" was his favorite statement. He took pride in what he did and was always an asset in the plumbing, stone, towing and medical businesses owned by his family. Andrew had a great future. He will remain forever in our hearts and our prayers.
Survivors include his father and stepmother, Andrew J. Dexter Sr. and Kristin Dexter of Buzzards Bay; his mother and stepfather, Sarah (Hazelton) White and James White of Plymouth; and four sisters, Kayleigh Dexter of Buzzards Bay, Amanda Swift, Alison Swift and Haley White, all of Plymouth. He is also survived by his grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Visiting hours for Andrew will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 8, 2010, in the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Highway (Route 28), Wareham. His funeral service will be private. Private burial will be in the South Monument Cemetery, Bourne.
