Sarah Wardlaw Devlin, born 0n the 14th of March 1818, was daughter of Col. James Devlin and the former Miss Margaret Wardlaw of Abbeville County, South Carolina.
In 1829, Sarah married John Kennedy, son of Edmund E. Kennedy and the former Miss Jane Boggs. Both were from leading families of the area and members of Cedar Springs A.R.P. church.
