Arthur W. "Art" Deviney, 80, of Dyersburg, died Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2009 at Wayne General Hospital in Waynesboro, Miss.
He was a retired customer-service manager of Memphis Light, Gas and Water, owner of Specialties of Memphis and Memphis Business Promotions, a member of Ellendale Baptist Church and an avid fisherman and hunter.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home with the Rev. Danny Klutts officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Newbern.
The family will receive visitors at 12:30 p.m. today.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Ruby McIntosh Deviney of Dyersburg; a daughter, Marsha Talley and husband, Don, of Memphis; a son, Bruce Deviney and wife, Pat, of St. Louis, Mo.; four grandchildren, Jessica Gardner and husband, Dave, of St. Louis, Mo., Julie Talley, Josh Talley and Andrew Talley and wife, Emily, all of Memphis; and three great-grandchildren, Davy Deviney and Danny Deviney, both of St. Louis and Jack Talley of Memphis.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Pallbearers will be Ralph Lawson, Bruce Deviney, Pete Parker, Dr. Jim Horner, Gerald Tidwell and Ed Austin. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe House Neighbors, Gene Austin, Dr. Carl Huff, Ted Doss, Ron Hartsell and Dr. David Guthrie.
