LIVERMORE, Calif. – Daniel Scot Detert, 41, passed away at home in Livermore, Calif., on Dec, 21, 2012, after fighting brain cancer for 10 1/2 years.
He was born in Missoula on Oct, 14, 1971, to Roger and Rosemary Detert and was raised on the family farm by the Mission Mountains near St. Ignatius. He attended school in St.Ignatius and graduated from high school in 1990. He attended the University of Montana in Missoula, where he met the love of his life, Hollie Blanchard.
In May 1993, he packed up his 1964 Chevy II and moved to Livermore. He married Hollie on June 25, 1994, in Atherton, Calif. He worked and studied in the sheet metal profession and became a journeyman and foreman in the Livermore area.
Daniel fell in love again when his daughter, Kiera, was born Dec. 1, 1998, and his son, Cole, was born Aug. 26, 2002.
Daniel loved Jesus and was a "patient and gentle man" who enjoyed wildlife, photography, target shooting and guns, building and repairing things, jokes, helping people, country music and any activity his family was involved with. He especially enjoyed the family trips to Hawaii.
Daniel was preceded in death by his grandparents, Selmer and Laura Detert and Alvin and Georgie Jensen. He is survived by his wife, Hollie; children, Kiera and Cole; parents, Roger and Rosemary Detert; brother, Bruce Detert (wife Jessi) and their children Abby and Luke; Hollie's parents, Doug and Leanna Blanchard; and Hollie's brother, Doug Blanchard (wife Michelle) and their children Grace, Aubrey and Kate.
Services were held Dec. 23, 2012, in Pleasanton, Calif. He is patiently waiting with Jesus to be joined with his loved ones.
