Mrs. Henry Kleen of Dolliver Died Last Saturday After a continued illness, Mrs. Emilia Rebecca Deppe Kleen, wife of Henry G. Kleen, passed away at her home near Dolliver last Saturday, April 11th, at the age of 69.

Mr. and Mrs. Kleen came to Emmet County from Petersburg, Ill., in the year 1913 and have resided near Dolliver since that time. Mrs. Kleen was an active worker in the Rebekah Lodge at Dolliver and the Royal Neighbors at Gruver.

She was a devout Christian and was confirmed when a girl in the German Methodist Church at Petersburg, Ill., and for the past eleven years has been an active worker in the Methodist Church at Dolliver.

Married in 1891
Mr. and Mrs. Kleen were united in marriage August 26, 1891 and to this union, there were born six children, four sons and two daughters. Three of the son, Fred, Roy and Edgar reside in Dolliver; Alfred resides in Renwick. The two daughters, Mrs. Lydia Pope and Mrs. May Evans also reside in Dolliver. There are nine grandchildren.

Mrs. Kleen was beloved by all her friends who were numbered by her acquaintances. She was an active worker in anything she undertook and was always a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

The funeral services were held from the Methodist Church in Dolliver onTuesday afternoon at 9 o’clock with Rev. W.S. Handy officiating. Interment was made in the Dolliver cemetery. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, April 1, 1936)

Mrs. Henry Kleen was born at Petersburg, Ill., October 24, 1866 and died at her home in Dolliver, April 11, 1936, being 69 years, 5 months and 17 days of age.

She was confirmed in the German Methodist Church of Petersburg of which her uncle was pastor at that time and continued her relationship with the church until her death. The past 11 years she has been a member of the Dolliver Community M.E. Church.

She was married Aug. 26, 1891 to Henry G. Kleen. For a number of years Mr. and Mrs. Kleen made their home in the Petersburg community.

Six children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Kleen, four sons, Alfred of Renwick, Fred, Roy and Edgar of Dolliver and two daughters, Mrs. Lydia Pope and Mrs. Mae Evans, both of Dolliver.

Mr. and Mrs. Kleen and their family moved to Emmet County, Iowa, in 1913 and have made their home near and in Dolliver since that time.

Mrs. Kleen was a member of the Dolliver Rebekah Lodge and the Gruver Royal Neighbors.

Funeral services were held at the Community Church in Dolliver on April 14, 1936, at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. William S. Handy in charge. Interment in the Dolliver cemetery. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, April 16, 1936)
