She was born at Killian, the daughter of the late john Carroll Dent and Jane Hawkins Dent. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. She was the widow of W. T. Cox, who died in 1945. Mrs. Cox was well known in Columbia and Richland County where she leaves a host of friends. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. H. O. McCullough of Columbia and Mrs. J. B. Yates of Sumter; one son, J. R. Cox of Columbia; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
