Funeral services for Mary N. Fibikar, 85, were held from the Abundant Life Chapel in Dows Wednesday. Burial followed in Fairview Cemetery, Dows.

Mary Fibikar died Monday, June 24, 1991 at Ellsworth Municipal Hospital in Iowa Falls following a short illness. She was born October 7, 1905 in Carlinville, Illinois to Henry N. and Ella Belle Tongate Denby. The family came to Iowa when she was very young. She graduated from Clarion High School in 1923 and worked for a short time at a hardware store in Clarion following graduation.

On August 27, 1924 she was united in marriage to Martin Earl Russell in Clarion. They farmed around the Dows area and in September 1939 he died. She later met Joseph Fibikar and they were married in Missouri on January 27, 1943. After their marriage they farmed around the Dows area until retiring to Dows in 1966.

Survivors include her husband Joseph of Dows; five children: Elizabeth Smith of Humboldt; Bernard Russell of Dows; Mrs. Kenneth (Norma) Hill of Dows; Larry Russell of Downington, Pennsylvania and Richard Fibikar of Galt. Also surviving are four step-children: Raymond Fibikar of Clarion; Arlene Redworski of Las Vegas, Nevada; Mary Louise Brauman of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Robert Fibikar of Honolulu, Hawaii; 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and one sister, Fern Clark of Ames.

Her first husband, parents, two brothers and four grandchildren preceded her in death.

She was a member of the Abundant Life Chapel, Ladies Mission Circle and Vernon Friendly Club.
