Eddie Del Rio, a native Austinite, was born on July 16, 1916 in Austin, Texas.

He passed away from natural causes on August 6, 2011.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Estella; grandson, Siaki Del Rio; and great-grandson, Milagro Del Rio Martin.

Eddie is survived by his sister, Tillie J. Burnett; his children, Dolores and Esiquio Duran, Mary and Adam Vega, Eddie Jr. and Sulimoni Del Rio and Alfredo Del Rio; six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He served in the United States Army, under the command of General Patton in World War II. He was a decorated war veteran who participated in all five major campaigns in the European Theatre.

Eddie owned and operated a small business know as "Eddie's Cleaners" on East 7th Street in Austin. He lived and died in the community that he loved. We, as his family and friends, will grieve his passing.

Wake Service will be held at 7:00pm on Thursday, August 11, 2011 at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 2620 South Congress Avenue. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Friday, August 12, 2011 at Cristo Rey Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery.
