She was born Sept. 5, 1912 in Hamburg, NY, the daughter of the late John A. and Lillian Manhart Degenfelder. She attended the District 10 grade school in Summerdale, and had graduated from Mayville Central School with the class of 1931, after completing a commercial course in business. She had worked for the Chautauqua County Treasurer's Office, and for Chautauqua Abstract in Mayville, retiring in 1974, after 29 years.
Coletta had been a communicate of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Mayville since it was built, where she taught religious education and sang in the choir, she had also volunteered at Mayville Central School as a ''Foster Grandparent''.
Coletta was interested in organic farming, animals of all sorts, reading, and writing poems.
She is survived by her sister, Adele Degenfelder Nickerson of Dewittville; two nephews: Cal (Debbie) Nickerson of Dewittville, and Andrew (Lynn) Nickerson of Bemus Point; four nieces: Eva (Dale) Johnson of Falconer, Elizabeth Brei of Waxhaw, N.C., Ellen (Dan) Tyler of Bemus Point, and Emma (James) Duncanson of Jamestown; five great-nieces: Elisa (Michael) Wasberg, Lindsay (James) Simpson, Christine (Ryan) Carlson, Erin Tyler, and Amelia Duncanson; three great-nephews: Dale (Rebecca) Johnson Jr., Daniel Tyler Jr., and James Duncanson; four great-great-nephews, and one great-great-niece.
