BAYES, Mildred Dedrick Harrison Age 91, of Hamilton, passed away at Fort Hamilton Hospital Vitas on November 3, 2006. Born in Hamilton on January 14, 1915, she was the daughter of the late Jack and Hilda (Theobald) Dedrick. Mildred graduated from Hamilton High School, received her BS in Education from Miami University and her Master Degree from Xavier University and was a member of The Delta Kappa Society, International Sorority. She began her teaching career in the Hamilton Public School system in 1935 as an elementary school teacher. Her most cherished years from 1958 to 1968 involved teaching reading at Hayes and Harrison. In 1968 she was the Assistant Principal at Jefferson and went on to become Principal of Hayes elementary from 1970 to her retirement date of June 30, 1981. Mildred married Eddie Harrison on June 17, 1936 and to this union came a daughter, Jacqueline and a devoted son, Dan. Eddie Harrison died in 1976. Later she married Harry Bayes who died December 12, 1997. Mildred loved traveling, playing bridge, and reading. She also enjoyed bowling with the Elks League for many years. Mildred is survived by her two children, Jackie and Dan; her sister, Marge Martin; daughter-in-law, Lynne M. Harrison; grandchildren, Eddie Harrison, Jami Harrison, Patrick Pierson, Tammy Pierson, Darin Pierson; great grandchildren, Samantha Geckeler, Jonathan Pierson, Nicole Jackson, Sarah Jackson and Joshua Pierson; great great grandchild, Savannah Jackson. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and a special niece Lindsay Martin. Her grandson, Scott Pierson preceded her in death. Funeral Services will be held at Weigel Funeral Home, 980 N. W. Washington Blvd. on Tuesday, November 7, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from Noon - 1:00 p.m. Contributions may be made to a charity of ones choice.
