She was a graduate of Cranston High School, and Mt. Auburn School of Nursing. She worked as a registered nurse at Mt. Auburn Hospital in Cambridge, the Chelsea Naval Hospital, Lynn Hospital, and was most recently the Director of Nursing in Jesmond Nursing Home in Nahant, until her retirement. She was active in the Girl Scouts, where she taught a nursing course for badges. She actively took part in her continuing education until 2004.
Mrs. Deary traveled extensively throughout the world with her sister. She also loved gardening and was a communicant of St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Nahant. She is survived by her daughters Paula Smith of Nahant and Julianne Morse of Lynn; her sister Dr. Patricia Montalbano of California, six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Albert H. Deignan.
