Retired Government claims examiner and attorney.
Retired from the Agriculture Department.
Mr Deane was well known , if anonymously, as Santa Claus to hundreds of underprivileged area children.
Worked for the Geological Survey in 1909. He was graduated from the Georgetown University Law School in 1914.
Mr Deane was a newly commissioned second lieutenant , ready to go to France, when the armistice was signed.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the American Legion, the Elks, the Ancient Order of Hibernians, the Catholic War Veterans and the WIndhorst Club of St Mary's Catholic Church.
A bachelor, he left no survivors.
