DEAN, William G. Sr., 77, passed away September 13, 2012, after a lengthy struggle with emphysema. Mr. Dean was predeceased by his parents, Lucy and Lyle Hanscom of Springfield, Maine; and is survived by his wife of 26 years, Lynne A. Dean; sons, William Dean Jr. and Kenneth Dean and wife, Donna; daughter, Debbie Andrews and husband, Wyatt; two stepdaughters, Sherrie Jarvis and husband, Billy, and Tracy Duke and husband, John. He also leaves behind to cherish his memory eight grandchildren, William, Amanda, Douglas, Austin, Bobby, Brian, Brett and Jennifer; and six great-grandchildren, Edward, Sydney, Jonathan, Katherine, Garrett and Wyatt. Mr. Dean was a graduate of Lee Academy, Lee, Maine, and Richard Bland College, Petersburg, Va. Mr. Dean was a retired Seabee, USNR, and served during the Korean conflict, the Vietnam era and in Operation Desert Storm. He was a claims supervisor with Nationwide Insurance, Continental Insurance, Fidelity and Deposit, and most recently, as an adjuster with Markel Insurance Company. The family will receive friends at the Woody Funeral Home, 1771 Parham Rd., Richmond, on Sunday, September 16, 2012 from 2 to 4 p.m. There will be a funeral service at the funeral home on Monday, September 17, 2012 at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Westhampton Memorial Park.
