Alexander D. DePRIEST was born 18 July 1820 in Wayne County, Mississippi, to James Farr DePRIEST II and Amelia ATWOOD DePRIEST. About 1844 Alexander was married to Patience Jane STRICKLAND, daughter of Simeon S. STRICKLAND and Jane "Jennie" HALE STRICKLAND, in Wayne County, Mississippi. In 1850, 1860 1nd 1870 we see Alexander and his wife, Patience, in Jasper County, Mississippi with farming listed as the family occupation.

By 1880 the family had moved to Short Mountain, Logan County, Arkansas. Living next door were Alexander's sons and their families, John Hines DePRIEST and Thomas James DePRIEST. Also living at Short Mountain, Alexander's Justice of the Peace, brother, James Farr DePRIEST III and family. Also living at Six Mile, Logan County, was Alexander's daughter, Isaac and Harriet HOSEY.

Evidence suggests that Alexander D. DePRIEST had migrated to McIntosh County, Oklahoma near Eufaula / Fishertown by 1888. In 1900 Alexander and Patience DePRIEST are living with his grandson James Walter DePRIEST (son of John Hines DePRIEST) and living next door is his grand daughter Charles and Jane P. HOSEY WRIGHT (daughter of Harriet HOSEY DePRIEST).
