He was born to Alma and Henrietta DeMill in Rockville, Utah.
Carl was a rancher, farmer, welder, and loved to ride horses. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in India and Burma. He married his sweetheart, Mada on June 14, 1950 in the Salt Lake Temple. He took pride in raising a beautiful garden each year to share with family, friends and neighbors.
A member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Carl served in many callings throughout his life. He was a stake missionary, served a mission with his wife in the Charleston, West Virginia Mission and served in the Jordan River Temple for several years. President of the South Jordan Senior Citizens for six years.
Survived by his sweetheart, Mada and children, Carla Palmer, Gordan DeMill of West Jordan, Lynn (Eva Jean) DeMill of South Jordan, LaDonna (Gary) Leavitt of Hyde Park, Utah, Merlin (Cindy) DeMill of Nampa, Idaho; 22 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren; siblings, Eldonna Sterling of California, Wanda Calderwood of Logan, Ferron DeMille of South Jordan and Rodney DeMille of LaVerkin, Utah. Preceded in death by his parents and three siblings.
A viewing will be held on Friday, February 13, 2009 from 5 - 7 p.m. at Redwood Memorial Estates Mortuary, 6500 South Redwood Road, Taylorsville. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, February 14, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the River Ridge 7th Ward Chapel, 10124 South 1300 West, with a viewing prior to the services from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m.
Interment will be in the South Jordan City Cemetery.
