Ardea De Luca Blackmon, 87, of Hopewell, Hopewell City, VA died Monday, September 20, 2010 at Greenfield Nursing Home, Petersburg, VA. Mrs. Blackmon was born in Udine, Italy and was a long-time resident of Hopewell. She was preceded in death by her parents, Pedro Goi and Tina De Luca, and her husband, Joseph Blackmon. Mrs. Blackmon was a retired employee of Safeway and a loyal member of St. James Catholic Church. She is survived by two sons, Allen Blackmon and wife Renee, and Robert Blackmon and wife, Marian; three grandsons, Jeffrey, Mark, and David Blackmon and numerous nephews, family and friends.

A Rosary Service was held Wednesday, September 22, 2010 at 7 p.m. in the Hopewell chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A Mass of Resurrection was held on Thursday, September 23, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. in St. James Catholic Church with the Rev. Frank Wiggins officiating. Interment followed in Appomattox Cemetery.
