Mrs. Miriam L. Little, 77, of Brooklyn, IA, died Sunday, August 17, 2003, at Brooklyn Community Estates, Brooklyn, IA.
Funeral services for Mrs. Little were held at 10:30 AM, Thursday, August 21, 2003, at the Grace United Methodist Church, Brooklyn. Interment was in Brooklyn Memorial Cemetery.
Casket-bearers were Troy Hammer, Travis Hammer, Erin Yeager, Chris Jermier, Matt Jermier, Julie Jermier, D. J. Davis, and Lance Little.
Miriam Louise Dayton Little was born in Grinnell, Iowa on September 7, 1925. Her parents were Freeman Egbert Dayton and Grace Ostrom Dayton.
Most of her childhood was spent in rural Brooklyn and Montezuma. She graduated from Brooklyn High School in 1943 and graduated from William Penn College in 1973.
On February 14, 1950, she was married to Robert W. Little at the Grace United Methodist Church, Brooklyn. She taught in rural schools at Brooklyn and Hartwick. Later she stayed at home to raise her children. In 1960 they moved to Monroe, Iowa and in 1962 she returned to the work force as a secretary. In 1968 they moved back to Brooklyn and Miriam began teaching at Malcom and later in Brooklyn. She retired in 1987 from BGM Schools.
Mrs. Little was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Grace UMW, BGMEA and ISEA.
Her parents and a grandson preceded her in death.
Surviving are her husband, Robert; two daughters and their husbands, Becky and Richard Hammer of Newton and Brenda and Dave Jermier of Dallas Center; a son and his wife, Keith and Vicki Little of Montezuma; a sister and her husband, Norma and Earl Allen of Montezuma; a brother and his wife, Larry and Anna Grace Dayton of Brooklyn; eight grandchildren, Troy and Travis Hammer, Erin Yeager, Chris, Matt and Julie Jermier, D. J. Davis and Lance Little; nine great grandchildren, Elijah, Greg, Jacob, Noah, Gavin, Gabe, Micah, Hannah and Bryce.
