John Riley Day may have been the son of an immigrant Irishman John O'Day, who died in 1867. His mother's name was Mary Ann, called "Polly," who may have been a Stidham. He was raised by the Stidham family of Wolfe Co. KY, and in 1884 married Martha Jane Stidham. They moved to McIntosh Co. Oklahoma before 1910 and from there to Fresno CA sometime after 1920. John and Martha Jane Day had eleven children.
