Dorothy Dawson Brooks, 94, of Lynchburg, passed away on Monday, October 6, 2014 at The Carrington. She was the wife of the late George Wilson Brooks. Born on December 3, 1919 in Campbell County, she was the daughter of the late Collie Mack Dawson and Willie Wooldridge Dawson. Dorothy worked at Blue Buckle and Central Virginia Training Center. She was a charter member of Thomas Road Baptist Church. In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her five siblings. She is survived by her children, George W. Brooks, III and wife, Rachel of Lynchburg, Carolyn B. Lewis of Lynchburg, and Barry Leonard and wife, Sylvia of Fla.; nine grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and four great great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6:30 until 8 pm on Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel. A graveside service will be held at 1 pm on Thursday, October 9, 2014 at Fort Hill Memorial Park with Pastor Dave Heerspink officiating.
