She was born in Rochester to Anson and Selma DOWNS DAVIS. On April 16, 1932 in South Bend she married O.C. HARTLE who died March 17, 1987. She was a retired sales clerk at Harvey's Dime Store and a member of the Rose Rebekah Lodge 408 of LaPorte. She lived in the LaPorte area for 34 years after coming from Leiters Ford.
Surviving are three daughers, Jean FAIN, LaPorte; Beverly OSBORN, Plymouth; Connie DUNLAP, Walkerton; a son, Gerald "Bud" HARTLE, Salisbury, N.C. fourteen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Lela ZIMMERMAN, Rochester. Preceding in death were her parents, a grandson, Mark, and two brothers.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Haverstock Funeral Home, LaPorte, with the Rev. John NEWTON officiating. Burial will follow a 2 p.m. graveside service at the Leiters Ford Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-9 p.m. Tuesday and until the time of service Wednesday. A memorial service by the Rose Rebekah Lodge will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Emergency Medical Service or the Visiting Nurse Association.
