Brooks Nathanial Davis, 22 months of age of Thorndale, died April 2 in a Temple hospital. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, April 9 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Rockdale with Father Gregory Hanks of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Rockdale officiating. Burial will follow in the Sharp Cemetery.
Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Sunday at the Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale.
The child was born May 25, 2005 in Georgetown to Bobby Wayne Davis, Sr. and Arlene Rene (Alonzo) Davis.
He was preceded in death by his great-grandfather, Nasario Garcia, Sr.
Survivors include his parents, Bobby Wayne Davis, Sr. and mother, Arlene Rene Davis and brother, Bobby Wayne Davis, Jr., all of Thorndale; grandparents, Patricia and Robert Alonzo of Sharp and Juanita and James Davis of Panama; great-grandparents, Alisa Garcia of Sharp; Valintine and Euseiba Alonzo of Tahok and Maxine Townsend of Cuero.

"Drowning accident claims life of young child"
A 22-month-old boy drowned when he fell into a pit full of water behind a shed at his grandparents' house near Sharp late Monday night.
Brooks Nathaniel Davis, of the Thorndale area, was lifted from the scene on County Road 414 to Scott & White Hospital in Temple, but was pronounced deceased at 7:55 p.m.
Milam County Sheriff's Deputy Jay Beathard said the incident was an accident.
"We are investigating this as an accidental drowning," he said. "We are not looking at any criminal charges."
Beathard explained that the toddler and a four-year-old sibling were playing outside near a trampoline while his mother and grandmother were watching them through a window while putting up groceries.
He said that they looked up and did not see the youngest child and went looking for him. In their search, they came up him in a water hole near the home.
The pit had been dug earlier in preparation for installing a septic system, according to Beathard. "During the rain, water back-built into the hole," he said.
The pit is about 15 to 20 feet in diameter and around three feet deep, according to Beathard.
The mother and grandmother found the young boy face down in the water hole according to reports. Medical personnel on scene performed lives saving measures before the child was taken to the hospital.
Deputies Beathard and Mike Clore are investigating the accident.
