-- Graveside services for Mrs. Gertrude Adams Davis will be conducted at 2 p.m. today, Wednesday, Sept. 3, in Chester Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Rick Wheeler officiating.

Mrs. Davis, 97, died Monday, Sept. 1, 2008, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

Born in Chester on Nov. 19, 1910, she was a daughter of the late Albert Quincy and Lena Kelly Adams. Mrs. Davis attended school in Chester County and was retired from Springs Industries. She was an avid gardener and attended Trinity Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Nancy Lashley of Chester; three sons, Guy Davis of Spartanburg and Donald Davis and Robert Davis, both of Chester; three sisters, Jean Bogdanski, Mary Brooks and Martha McLeod, all of Virginia Beach, Va.; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Van Davis.

The family will receive friends at the graveside immediately following the service.

Memorials may be made to Trinity Presbyterian Church, 651 Great Falls Highway, Chester.
