WILLIAMSTOWN - Edwin E. Davis, 84, of Henderson Avenue, Williamstown, passed away at 12:59 p.m. Friday (June 27, 2008) at Marietta Memorial Hospital.

He was born Feb. 15, 1924, in Marietta a son of Edwin H. Davis and Retta Holland Davis. Ed had been employed at Union Carbide Metals, later known as Elkem, as a supervisor, retiring in 1985. He was a veteran of the Army Air Force serving during World War II and was with the West Virginia Air National Guard where he was a fixed wing pilot and helicopter pilot. He was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Williamstown. He enjoyed boating and was a longtime member of the Marietta Boat Club.

On Nov. 30, 1945, he married Jimmie L. Ray, who survives with two sons and one daughter, Edwin L. Davis of Fort Worth, Texas, Gerry R. (Kimberly) Davis of Williamstown, and Linda C. (Charlie) Mitchell of Dallas, Texas; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church of Williamstown with Jim Mike Ward officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn Memorial Park with military rites by American Legion Post 159 of Williamstown. Friends may call beginning at 2 p.m. today at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with family present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Williamstown.
