.Obituary Wilbur Register 26 Aug 1897
Mrs. Annis DAVIS died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Lewis Slaten, in this place on Thursday afternoon, Aug. 20.
Her maiden name was Barnard. She was born in Goffstown, New Hampshire, Feb. 20, 1824 and was married to Mr. Ira Davis June 30, 1846, in her native town.
In the year 1856 they moved to Beaverdam, WI, living in that town until the year 1858, when they removed with their family to Burns, La CrosseCo., WI. While here Mr. Davis took sick and after a brief illness died in 1862. In 1871, Mrs. Davis and children went to Pelican Rapids, Minn., where she remained until three years ago, when she was taken dangerously ill and her daughter, Mrs. Slaten, was summoned back home to see her mother die. She recovered and according to her own desire, was broughtto Wilbur, where the resided until the time of her death. During the last two years of her life she was a confirmed invalid, needing the careof some member of the family constantly; her nervous system was sensitivein the extreme. The cause of her protracted sickness was a stroke of paralysis received seven years prior to her death.
She was a silent sufferer and quietly manifested her faith waiting for God's time of release-- seventy-two years and seven months was the time of her sojourn here and then her spirit winged its way to God who gave it.
The funeral service was conducted at the Presbyterian church on last Friday afternoon at 4 o'clock by the pastor. She leaves a family of four daughters and one son with several grand children to mourn her loss.
