Ethel Davis Booth 93, of Wilmington died Friday August 26, 2011.

She was born September 12, 1917 in Wilkes County, NC daughter of the late Mitchel Davis and Carrie Canter Davis and was preceded in death by her husband William A. "Butch" Booth, daughter, Carolyn "Carol" Booth Taylor and three brothers, Maurice Davis, Fred Davis and Clegg Davis.

Mrs. Booth graduated from Mars Hill College and Catawaba College. She received her Masters Degree and Advanced Supervisors Certificate for Guidance and Counseling from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She was a Biology Teacher and First Guidance Counselor at New Hanover High School and Founder and Director of Guidance for the New Hanover County School System. Former member of Cape Fear Country Club and Pine Valley Country Club where she was an avid golfer for many years and three time Women's Golf Champion at Pine Valley Country Club. She was a member of First Baptist Church and former Chairman of Southeastern Mental Health Board. The Rotary Club named her a Paul Harris Fellow in 2001.

Surviving are her grandsons Hill Taylor and wife Stacy of Chapel Hill, NC and Will Taylor and wife Lisa of Efland, NC; great grandsons, Owen Booth Taylor and Denali Cutbush-Taylor; sisters, Estelle D. Caudill of Meadows of Dan, VA, Hazel D. Walters of New Smyrna Beach, Fl, a special friend Catherine Solomon of Wilmington, and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at 2 PM Tuesday, August 30, 2011 at Oleander Memorial Gardens by Dr. Frank Hawkins and Dr. Jim Everett.
